Spectral Bridge is a collaborative lifestyle design by Ehrlich Architects and artist Johannes Girardoni. Sensitive to neighborhood scale, the residence celebrates outdoor space by using a small footprint relative to lot size and addresses the needs for flexible open and modern living. The space consists of three separate buildings connected by glass transitions, an atrium between the front two houses, and a glass bridge to the rear. Johannes Girardoni's Spectral Bridge is the immersive light installation that connects the three structures with an experiential sculpture that reads as a single physical volume expressed through light. From the inside, Spectral Bridge is experienced as a series of spaces defined by lines of light and color. The dynamic play of dark and light is further complemented by an abundance of glass that allows light to flow in and through the interior. Spectral bridge changes with each day and night, and brings one into a state of awareness and presence through the combination of artificial and natural light in a shifting dialog throughout the seasons.
